Starting a Business in One Day: Simplified Registration

As part of a large-scale reform to improve the 'ease of doing business' in Uzbekistan, the procedure for registering a new business has been radically simplified. Gone are the days of bureaucratic hurdles and visiting multiple state agencies. Today, you can register a new legal entity (like an LLC) or become a Sole Proprietor (IP) entirely online and often in less than a single business day.

The primary channel for this is the Single Portal of Interactive Public Services (my.gov.uz) or by visiting a Public Service Center (PSC), which operates on a 'one-stop-shop' principle. The online process is straightforward: the applicant chooses a business name (which is checked for uniqueness in real-time), selects their legal structure, fills in details about the founder(s) and legal address, and chooses their primary business activity code.

Once the application is submitted and the small state registration fee is paid, the system automatically communicates with all relevant state bodies. It registers the new entity with the tax inspectorate, the statistics committee, and other necessary agencies simultaneously. Upon successful registration, the applicant receives a digital certificate of registration, which has full legal force. This streamlined process dramatically lowers the barrier to entry for entrepreneurs and encourages the formalization of economic activity.
